China Glaze Glitz Bitz 'n Pieces Collection for Spring 2013

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year! I certainly am! Of course I'm dreading going back to school (and job hunting), but I've been having a blast polish wise! I was stalking my local beauty supply for the OPI Mariah Carey collection and I had the best luck yesterday. Not only did they just get the Mariah Carey collection, but they also got this new China Glaze collection! Needless to say, the hoarder in me jumped out and I had to get all 6 polishes in this collection. In my defense it's glitter, which makes it much more reasonable, right?

Anyhow, there are a LOT of photos in this post, so I'll be putting it under a cut... here's some eye candy to hopefully tempt you into taking the plunge!

Cult Nails - Mind Control

Hi everyone!

I can't believe I haven't posted up the rest of the Cult Nails Super Powers collection yet! I was looking on my computer for a swatch of a polish from a while back that I know I missed posting, but instead of finding those pictures, I found a BUNCH of edited photos that haven't been posted either! I didn't find the ones I was looking for, but I have this idea that they are on a USB key that I have conveniently not seen for a few months now.

I'm going to go hunt for that as soon as I'm done typing up this post, so without further ado... Mind Control!

Mind Control is a squishy looking not-quite-black with pink-gold shimmer. I actually like this one a lot, so it was a big surprise that I haven't posted about this yet!

Models Own Emerald Black

Hi everyone! Happy Saturday!

Just a short and sweet post today, I really need to run off and get some stuff ready for tonight! I'm going to a holiday sweater party tonight.. this is my first time going to a sweater party so I went and bought a sweater at a thrift store.. it's super ugly lol :D

Anyhow, today's featured polish is from the Models Own Beetlejuice collection that was recently released. It's filled with awesome duochromes!

This polish is the least duochromey out of all of them though, it's more like black with emerald shimmer... but it's still really pretty!

 
Pictured above is 2 coats of Emerald-Black. Pretty right? The green isn't too subtle, so I can actually wear this polish without having a pure-black nail polish freakout (for some reason, I can't wear pure black cremes).

If you think this polish is gorgeous, I can't wait to show you the rest of them... they're just made of win. The only thing I don't like about these polishes is that they have toluene in them, which I try to avoid at all costs. Of course, I find this out after I ordered them, so.. I guess it couldn't have been helped, but I really really wish that they would switch to a toluene free formula.

Anyhow, the rest of the Beetlejuice collection will be posted sometime during this coming week. I'm also going on a trip with family to a ski resort, and I don't know if we're going to have internet available or not. I'm going to schedule some posts for that week (22-29) but I'll try to pop in if I can manage to find internet!

Kleancolor Crackle in Black

*Caution, contains massive Kleancolor Crackle fail*

Morning everyone,

Today I'm going to show you a polish I bought a little while ago on a whim. I'll show you pictures first, just to get those all over with.

Let's start with the fail.

If you plan on buying any of the Kleancolor crackles, it's probably a good idea to try them out first until you get the hang of it. Application can be tricky if you're just starting out. The key to these is to apply them to polish that is still somewhat tacky. I have a lot of trouble with this, cuz' I have a tendency to get over excited and apply it a wee bit too early.. and when it's too wet, the crackle just kind of pulls itself together and leaves ginormous random holes on top of your chosen base polish. All of these trials above failed. I suppose the green turned out alright, but the crackle still kind of made this strange ruched pattern, which isn't that pleasing to look at.

After you get the hang of it, you will hopefully be able to achieve something like these:

I bought this because I really prefer this cracking pattern to the "standard" crackling seen from OPI, China Glaze and a lot of other crackle polishes that are being released. When it's done right, it can look pretty sweet, but I haven't managed to get it working 100% of the time yet (that's why these are on a nail wheel) and it's pretty frustrating.

Okay, enough of that.. I also chose to show this on a nail wheel because this is a pain in the butt to remove. I haven't perfected a removal technique (besides scraping it off your nail if you apply it and want to take it off right away), and even with pure acetone, this sucker is seriously hard to remove. I put it on the first day I got it and I wanted to take it off.. and it took me forever scraping the darned thing off my nails.


Maybe one day I'll give it another chance.. but for now it's going to just sit in the nail polish bin.

If any of you have tried this crackle and can offer me any tips on perfecting the application and removal.. PLEASE leave me a comment or tweet me.. at this moment I can't justify buying this polish. :(

Joe Fresh - Twilight

Good morning everyone!

*edit- I think I forgot to mention where this could be purchased from.. Joe Fresh polishes can be purchased at Real Canadian Superstore, Extra foods and Loblaws in Canada. They retail for 3 for $10 CAD and are small (6mL vs 15mL in a normal OPI bottle).

Today I have a Canada exclusive polish to show you! I actually bought this a while ago but never got around to trying it until a few days ago.

Gosh, looking at this picture makes me want to hoard it. Doesn't it look fabulous?

Pretty colour changing flakies, huh? It's mainly green, but can change to orange and yellow. It is kind of sheer, so best layered over black or another dark colour (these photos have it layered over China Glaze's First Mate, but you can't really tell).

So, what do you guys think? I think this polish is gorgeous (flakies are always gorgeous, aren't they?) but I do feel that it is a bit dark for my taste (geez, I'm weird aren't I? I have some kind of aversion to black nailpolish).. since I do like sunshine-y rainbowness. The inner nail polish hoarder in me wants to keep it, but the rest of me is telling me to add it to a grab bag for the ginormous giveaway I want to host sometime in the future.

Of course, I'm probably going to go see if they still have any of this polish in stock (and pick up JF's Rainforest, which reminds me of RBL's Recycle and the immensely coveted Nars Zulu) and if they do.. well, they'll be a brand new one waiting to be won whenever I reach the magical 1-0-0 followers (I'm excited, what about you?!). If they don't, then I'll give away this one (sorry hoarder :( ).

Actually, if I can find a new bottle of this, I may give that away as a part of a first or second prize pack, and my used one in a grab bag. I think this can probably find a more loving home with someone that isn't afraid of the colour black like I am.
